Michele Wood Wows Students with Beautiful Work

Students from grades four and five had the opportunity to get to know local artist and illustrator Michele Wood on Feb. 23.  Ms. Wood shared her background as an artist, the way in which she found her personal artistic style and her thoughts on the relationship between author and illustrator.  She also encouraged students to act out one of the poem in her new book, I Lay My Stitches Down, as a means of focusing on the descriptive elements in the text, elements that an illustrator must incorporate into their art to enrich the text.

AR Bag Tags Available for Participants

Have you participated in the AR Team challenge and earned points for your team?  Don't forget to pick up your AR bag tag - with your team logo on it!  The current point totals for the four teams are posted on the AR board in the Primary School lobb.  The Fire team has a big lead at this point -- maybe because many of the grade level reader leaders are on the Fire team.  Team assignment is random, but it does appear that the Fire readers are a strong bunch.  Check out the posters of our current grade level reader leaders on the AR board.

French Book Fair Success Again!

For the second year in a row, the French Book Fair has been highly successful.  French students enjoyed coming to the library to browse for French comic books, fiction and nonfiction provided by French Media Resources, Inc.  The fair was arranged by French Coordinator Serge Petitpre and Library Associate Pascale Viala and staffed by members of Ensemble.  Profits from the fair were used to purchase French books for the classroom and library.
