Milner Award Ambassador Visits the Library!

Today Ms. Julia Prittie, the Ambassador for the Milner Award, visited the library to tell students about the award which is given annually to an author selected by primary school students in Atlanta/Fulton County. Ms. Prittie entertained third, fourth and fifth graders with stories about well-known authors who were past Milner Award winners and explained how the students participate in the voting process for upcoming winners. Some previous winners of the award include Jerry Spinelli, Judy Blume, Helen Lester, Betsy Duffey, Louis Sachar and Joanna Cole. This year's winner is Laura Numeroff. Our students are very excited about participating in this year's voting and are planning campaigns for their favorite authors!

Fall Book Fair a Great Success!

This year's Fall Book Fair was a great success and netted much-appreciated funds to be used for library books and resources. The "jungle" decorations are still up -- vines, monkeys, flowers, snakes and all -- teachers and students alike enjoyed them so much that they asked that the "jungle" remain a little while longer! What a fun time was had by all!

The highlight of our family event night was Dr. Brindley's reading of a featured rain forest book. Everyone went "bananas" over the books, the arts and crafts and the prizes.

Many thanks from the library to all who participated!
