Fifth Graders Visit the Auburn Avenue Research Library
A group of 9 fifth grade students which visited the Auburn Avenue Research Library on March 18 experienced a very special morning. Morris Gardner, program director at the library, talked with the students about the library and then gave students a tour of the library. During the course of the tour, students viewed artwork by local artist Athlone Clarke on the subject of segregation, saw personal papers of Andrew Young (including a letter from former President Jimmy Carter), explored an exhibit on the Frazier Cafe Society (a restaurant in Atlanta which was important during the Civil Rights era) and saw original Gees Bend quilts.
